Light a Path is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Asheville, NC, founded on the knowledge that connection creates resilience. Light a Path does this by bringing yoga, meditation, and fitness activities to youth, incarcerated persons, unhoused persons, low income community residents, those recovering from addiction, as well as those in transition. By engaging in these modalities, the ultimate connection is facilitated to find the inner reserves of resilience, peace and wellness that each one of us holds. In 2018, LAP’s 50+ volunteers offered 30 weekly classes, creating 8,000+ opportunities for individuals seeking wellness and connection.

Light a Path is thrilled to partner with Asheville Yoga Center to offer a weekend-long professional development training for yoga teachers, yoga therapists and fitness professionals interested in learning the “Light a Path Method” to create impactful change in their communities. This is a foundational course where participants will be trained in trauma-informed instruction and concepts of power, privilege and oppression. Participants will be introduced to methods and techniques for sharing wellness modalities, including yoga and meditation with underserved populations. Additionally, participants will learn responsible bystander intervention, the ethics of self-care and be introduced to the logistics of establishing service-based programs. They will leave this training with an understanding of everything one needs to create resilience through connection in their community. All net proceeds of this training go directly to Light a Path.
